Veins, good or bad?

I've hada few cigars where veins are present on the wrapper. I have not noticed a direct defect to the smoking experience of any of these cigars because of the vein. I read Matt's review of the Cain Maduro Torpedo and wondered if you all would give me some insight on the vein. Personally, the veins haven't bothered me yet, so what's the story? iS it purely asthetic?

  1. I have had a couple of cigars that split right along the veins. That to me seems to be the biggest drawback on the veins. As long as it doen't get dropped or have a large swing in temperature, you should be good.

  2. The OneOffs come to mind as far as veins are concerned. And yes, they tend to split right along the veins--likely due to poor shipping/pre-shipping storage conditions, however, I have not noticed any flavor difference from one having a vein or veins the wrapper versus those that do not have veins.

Personally, I do not like seeing veins in my cigar wrappers. Just my opinion.

  4. I've a couple cigars where the vein has destroyed a cigar, but the vein was in the binder and I guess that caused the roll/press of the cigar to loosen as I smoked or lit the cigar and the cigar would basically burst out of the wrapper.

Well, thanks for the imput guys. I'll keep an eye on those veins.
